ബോസ്റ്റണ്‍: ആദ്യകാല മലയാളി കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരിലൊരാളും കല്ലിശേരി താമരപ്പള്ളി (മലേലയത്ത്) ഡോ. തോമസ് താമര (94) ബോസട്ണില്‍ അന്തരിച്ചു.
1950-കളില്‍ അമേരിക്കയിലെത്തിയതാണ്. താമരപ്പള്ളി (മലേലയത്ത്) ഡോ. ടി.ഒ. തോമസിന്റെയും മറിയാമ്മ തോമസിന്റെയും പുത്രനാണ്. ബാങ്കിംഗ്-ഫൈനാന്‍ഷ്യല്‍ രംഗത്തെ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിദഗ്ദനായിരുന്നു. 35-ല്‍ പരം സ്ഥപനങ്ങളില്‍ ഉന്നത സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ വഹിച്ചു. ക്ലയന്റ് ലിസ്റ്റില്‍ നോര്‍ത്ത് വെസ്റ്റ് കോര്‍പൊരഷന്‍, റൊയല്‍ ബാങ്ക് ഓഫ് കാനഡ, ചെയ്‌സ് മന്‍ഹാട്ടന്‍ ബാങ്ക്, മെറില്‍ ലിഞ്ച്, അമേരിക്കന്‍ എക്‌സ്‌പ്രെസ്സ്, തുടങ്ങിയവ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കറന്‍സി കണ്ട്രോളറുടെകണ്‍സള്‍ട്ടന്റും ആയിരുന്നു.
ബാങ്കേഴ്‌സ് ഗൈഡ് ടു ന്യു ഗ്രോത്ത് ഓപ്പര്‍ച്ചുണിറ്റീസ്എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ രചയിതാവാണ്. കൂടാതെ ഒട്ടെറെ പ്രബന്ധങ്ങളും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. അമെരിക്കന്‍ ബാങ്കേഴ്‌സ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍ അടക്കംവിദഗ്ദ സമിതികളില്‍ സ്ഥിരം പ്രഭാഷകനായിരുന്നു.
മദ്രാസ് യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി, കൊളംബിയ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി, ഇല്ലിനോയി ഇന്‍സ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്‌നോളജി ഗ്ലാസ്‌ഗോ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി (സ്‌കോട്ട്‌ലന്‍ഡ്) എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു ബിരുദങ്ങളെടുത്തു.

Dr. Thomas Thamara passed away at around 11 am (Boston time) today January 10, 2021.
He came to the States in the early 50s. He was married to Ana Krenica His parents were Dr. T O Thomas Thamarappallil (Malelayyathu) and Mariamma Thomas

Thomas Thamara was a leading international consultant to banks and other financial service companies. Mr. Thamara has worked closely with senior executives of more than 35 financial institutions in the United States, Canada and internationally. His client list includes: Northwest Corporation, Royal Bank of Canada, Chase Manhattan Bank, Merrill Lynch, American express, Metropolitan Life, Union Planters Bank, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (Stockholm).
He has also served as a consultant to the Comptroller of currency. Mr. Thamara was previously director in charge of the Financial Industry Consulting Practice at the Strategic Planning Institute, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Thomas has written a book “Banker’s Guide to New Growth Opportunities” The author, who has hands on experience as an executive of two world class banks, was a frequent speaker at strategic planning and marketing seminars and workshops for the American Bankers Association, the Bank Administration Institute and the Planning Executive Institute.
He has published widely in the planning organizational restructuring forecasting and financial planning systems.
Mr. Thamara holds degrees from Columbia University, New York, Illinois Institute of Technology, Illinois, Glascow University, Scotland and Madras University, Tamil Nadu
