Jan. 6 Organizers Used Untraceable Burner Phones To Communicate With Trump Family Ahead Of Riot: According to a new bombshell report published by Rollin Stone magazine, organizers of the January “Stop the Steal” rally used anonymous burner phones to communicate with members of former President Trump’s family and members of his administration ahead of the deadly Capitol attack on the U.S. capitol. Citing multiple sources, the magazine reported that “Kylie Kremer, an organizer for the rally that took place at D.C.’s Ellipse park, had an aide buy three burner phones a few days before Jan. 6. One source who was a member of the March for Trump team told the magazine that Kremer said that it was “of the utmost importance” that the untraceable phones be purchased with cash. “That was when the planning for the event on the Ellipse was happening, and [Kylie Kremer] needed burner phones in order to communicate with high-level people is how she put it,” the source told Rolling Stone. According to the report, “Kremer kept one of the phones herself and gave the other phones to high-ranking members of Trump’s inner circle, including his son Eric Trump, daughter-in-law and former campaign official Lara Trump, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and former Trump surrogate Katrina Pierson. Burner phones are cheap, prepaid cells designed for temporary usage and do not require users to have an account. This makes them hard to trace and ideal for those who are seeking anonymity — particularly if they are purchased with cash. The use of burner phones could make it more difficult for congressional investigators to find evidence of coordination between Trump’s team and rally planners. But there could still be some evidence of direct communications between Kylie Kremer and the White House in more traditional phone records. The team member says that there were rare exceptions in which Kylie Kremer used her regular phone to communicate with Trump officials. “She talked with Mark Meadows on her personal phone once, but mainly on the burner phone,” the team member told the news outlet.
